The insulating oil in the oil chamber of on-load tap-changer is usually polluted by the free carbon and various solid particles caused by electric arc due to the frequent switch conversion. In addition, the oil absorbs water, resulting in reduced dielectric strength of the insulating oil. When the water content increases, the contact performance of the switch decreases, and the pollution in the oil increases further, forming a vicious cycle. It is stipulated in Guidelines for Operation and Maintenance of On-load Tap-changer that when the on-load tap-changer converts 5000 ~ 10000 times every 1 ~ 2 years or the breakdown voltage is lower than 25kV, its cover should be opened for cleaning or oil filtering once. And also suggested that "for the tap-changer with frequent conversion during operation, it is advisable to adopt live oil filtration or install online oil purifier, and at the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the operation management and maintenance of hot-line or 'online' oil purifier and use it correctly."

BYL Series On-load Tap-changer Online Oil Purification Device is designed to solve the problem of insulation oil deterioration in the oil chamber of on-load tap-changer and acts as bypass circulating filtration for on-load tap-change of transformer. The device works together with the transformer on-load tap-changer to conduct the hot-line oil filtration under the condition of the normal operation of transformer system, can effectively remove the impurities such as free carbon and metal particulates from the insulating oil in the on-load tap-changer and can reduce the trace moisture, so as to guarantee the breakdown voltage and service life of oil, reduce outage maintenance times, effectively improve the safety and reliability of on-load tap-changer.It is in line with the technical requirements of China power industry standard DL/T574-2021 stipulated Guidelines for Operation and Maintenance of On-load Tap-changer. This online oil purification device is composed of two parts: filtration and control. The main parts are oil pump, motor, high efficiency filter for particle removal, dehydration filter, connecting oil pipe, pressure gauge, differential pressure relay, and control element, etc. The inlet and outlet oil pipes of the device are respectively connected with the outlet and inlet oil pipes of the oil chamber of the tap-changer. The oil loop must be filled with oil without residual air and in a closed circulation state.

BYL Series On-load Tap-changer Online Oil Purification Device adopts SIEMENS control technology and control components, and has three operation modes of automatic, manual and timing start-up. The working time and length can be set freely, and the operation times and parameters can be recorded and displayed by itself. The device is equipped with reliable filter element failure alarm sensor and will be automatically stopped after the failure of the filter element. In addition, a automatic constant temperature control system is equipped inside the cabinet, ensures that the device can work normally in a variety of environments, to achieve all-weather unmanned monitoring automatic work. The oil purification device has two filtration stages, the first stage removes free carbon and other impurities, and the second stage removes water content. Besides, it can output the running signal of the on-line oil purification device and the fault alarm signal of the filter element to the main control.

Press the program selection key to select manual, timed and automatic running programs: (1) When "MANUAL" is selected, press the start button and the online oil purification device will start working; press the stop button and the online oil purification device will stop working (If you do not press the stop button, the online oil purification device will automatically stop working according to the system setting time, and the factory setting is 2h). (2) When "TIMED" is selected for operation, the online oil purification device will filter oil automatically within the time set by the system (The factory setting value is 09:00-11:00 every morning). (3) When "AUTOMATIC" is selected for operation, the online oil purification device receives the pressure regulating signal of on-load pressure regulating switch to filter oil automatically (The factory setting value is 30min for automatic oil filtration every time the switch is switched). After a long time of use, the filter element is blocked by impurities in the oil, so that the pressure difference between the oil inlet end and the oil outlet end of the filter element increases. When the pressure difference reaches 0.35mpa, the system sends an alarm signal.

As shown in Figure 1, BYL Series On-load Tap-changer Online Oil Purification Device integrates the functions of oil filtration, oil filling and oil changing. An oil discharge valve and an oil filling valve are added in the oil purification device. When the on-load tap-changer needs to change the oil, we only need to open the oil filling valve and the oil outlet valve, and connect to the new oil drum and the waste oil drum through the hose to conduct the oil changing mode.  In addition, when the oil level of tap-changer is low, the oil barrel can be connected to the oil filling valve through the hose, manually start the oil purification device and close the oil inlet valve of the oil purification device, so that the oil in the oil barrel will be filled into the tap-changer. After the oil level is normal, open the oil inlet valve of the oil purification device and close the oil purification device to realize online oil filling. It reduces the number of oil replacement and power outage times, ensures the uninterrupted power supply of the power supply system, reduces the danger of climbing operation when maintenance personnel overhaul transformers, effectively improves the reliability, security and efficiency of on-load tap-changer operation, and is conducive to providing users with the best quality power supply service.
